Been out the past three nights scouting at different lakes and have seen a grand total of 8 woodies. I'm in the gainesville, lake city area and spend most of my day on the road and keep an eye out but there just aren't any birds that I've found. Zero birds using my roost pond that had hundreds of birds last year and no birds on a couple of different ponds that I hunted successfully last year. Anyone else seein the same or am I alone in this boat?
I have been seeing birds, but they have seem to be moving later than usual. Also, I have noticed that the spots that were holding nice numbers of ducks last year, arent yet this year. But I am finding ducks in new locations. just keep looking, its still early. Best of luck.
I have seen a few Wood Ducks and Hooded Merganser on the UF campus near the entomology dept. Also ran into about 60 Woodies at Gum Root Park. Unfortunately you can't hunt there. It was nice to know they are around. Good luck!
Gonna get cold Wednesday with the next front. Starting to lock up to the northern US.
