But I've never shot a Hollywood, and want too so bad! I think they're neat birds. Looks like most of you guys had some great hunts!

I have only shot one and I mounted out of impulse because I thought I would never see another. It's an immature drake and not even fully plumed (SMH). Still has good color though.

We shot a couple Hollywood's this year, my buddy got a fully plumed drake which I told him to mount. Dumb ass didn't though. They don't taste terrible in my opinion only a little stronger than other puddlers as long as you take the skin off.

Was that in the same area where you shot the hen?

Ha-ha I looked for them in a few of the small creeks but didn't see any. Saw a male hooded that I passed on. I was too focused on scouting for turkey season. The weather was pretty rough too, T-Storms passed though in the middle of the afternoon. So I decided to give the gulf a shot the next morning, there was a ton of redheads out there but they were boat shy.

Been doing pretty good down here in S. Fla since my move from Leon.

These are all hard-hunted, wake-up at-midnight, remote hole, no hunters in 2 mile radius, 1 hour boat ride ducks. No STA ducks here. Maybe next season I'll break down and go on a duck shoot. I just prefer duck hunting.

I've been loving hunting mottled ducks. Calling them in just like Arkansas Mallards. I learned a lot about them. With a good call operator you can work these jokers on a string, and get them feet down and hair-lipped like ole greentop. Might just be my favorite duck to hunt down here.

Yesterday.

I passed on several hens this year in hopes of being rewarded with drakes. They never came and I continue to get skunked.

Slow morning, but we managed to get an unusual visitor in the decoys. Only the second duck my brother ever shot, and his first duck over dekes.
