jon boats

Postby bdub » Wed Dec 11, 2013 11:23 am

Ok so Im still a few years in and still a newbie and have only had my jon boat for 2-3 years now. I keep seeing pics of birds in boats and how much more room you guys have in your boats than I do. Im working with a 14ft 33in wide jon boat that I have no idea what kind it is and there is a 9 go devil long tail on it. my boat is pretty unstable for anyone bigger than me (which isn't hard to be) and im looking to upgrade but I don't know what size I want, need. My boat is pretty easy to hide in tall grass right now, but the stability and amount I can carry is starting to concern me. So im curious, what size boats does everyone (besides the layout/kayak guys I have one of those too) hunt out of.

16x56 go devil boat. Stable as a barge. I can carry 6 people plus hunting gear and still get on step if I have to. I've shot 4 out of it but 3 is comfortable.

im probly not going to upgrade my motor for HP restrictions around here. would my 9 go devil push that with any force or would that be like strapping a trolling motor to it? ha

I have a 16 ft Alweld and absolutely love it! Plenty of room and can hold three plus gear without a problem. Very stable. Couldn't flip it by moving around if I tried. :hammer:
