Great boat

Postby ballyhu » Fri Jan 17, 2014 8:54 am

This was my first season. I have so far managed to hunt 12 days without losing my wife or job. I bought this boat during the offseason and have explored and hunted a great deal of lake Okeechobee with it. I have been places I had no business being and gone thru stuff that was too shallow and too thick. I love this boat and motor and couldn't imagine hunting in anything else. 2 days ago I hunted with a buddy who has an outboard. I tried to take him to one of my spots but it was impossible and we had to stop well short. We saw some birds and had a scratchy hunt. On the way back to the ramp he told me it was the most birds he'd seen all season. Thats the difference between a long shaft and an outboard in my rookie opinion.

What hull are you running? Sweet rig.

Its an 18' x 42" go devil hull and 23 hp go devil motor. 18mph with two hunters and a dog and an average trip distance of 12 miles on 1.8 gallons of gas.

I can't remember exactly, but I believe the seller was asking $6000, we we ended up at $5250 for boat, motor, and trailer. I spent another grand going through everything, new tires, battery, and a gps. During this off season I'm pretty sure I'm going to add a pop up blind.
