Dead gators

Postby snipeshooter » Sat Aug 25, 2007 9:29 am

I was out on the river this morning and came across four dead gators about six feet long floating in the river. Two of them still had cord wrapped around them. They did not look big enough to have broken the cord. It looked like somebody stuck them and when they got them to the boat decided they were not big enough and dumped them back in the river. Not a very good image of gator hunting for the general public to see, not to mention the waste of wildlife.

Typical.
Were they "pooned" or were they on a bait. ( line leading from the mouth) If they were on bait I would venture to say the hunters used baited hook instead of wooden peg.

If they were pooned they were too scared to remove the tip from a live gator (puzzies)

They were floating belly up and I did not stop to see. I just saw the line wraped around the carcusses. On a better note the whislers that I saw this time last year survived the season and have multiplied. Matt two were in site of the boat ramp at 46.
