Swampman, in no way am I trying to pitch another manufacturer or start a fight but having run a small HP surface drive for 3+ years, and probably harder than most, there is no way I would ever spend that much money on that motor. Period. All the small HP surface drive manufacturers that I'm aware of use aluminum and SS in their frame construction. That's nothing unique. What you're paying for with those mangrove motors are the subaru engines, which are great engines, but much more expensive than most other similar engines of other manufacturers. The hydraulic tilt is unnecessary on a setup that small and light, and that frame just isn't going to withstand the abuse a mudmotor is supposed to handle. That shaft housing is going to crack...it's just a matter of if it does it on the first log/stump/lily root, or the 10th. Also, is he using a bearing system or a bushing? The other manufacturers in that price range are running a bearing system now, and for a good reason...the bushings give out too quickly and easily. Like I said, not trying to start a fight, just wanting to prevent you from spending a lot of money on a product that appears to be inferior.
