Well been killing a whole lot of goose eggs here of lately. Nada nothing, no birds anywhere, a swamp that i hunt only a couple of times a year, went to it christmas eve and saw not one bird. Apparently hunted the wrong spot on sunday, should have went to big open water, heard some guys did a jam up job on 19 birds on open water that didn't freeze up. Was going to go in the morn but been sick as a dog and don't think going in the am would be such a good decision seeing as how I'm leaving for the great state of AR next week, def don't want to be sick for that trip. My advice, with the cold temps find open water with no ice and you should kill some. I have taken a few malls this year and actually saw about 20 teal last weekend, surprised me, new ducks were def around early this week, don't know if they're still here though, Good luck guys.

All I have been able to find in any numbers at all are buffleheads and hooded mergansers. I can't bring myself to shoot a hoody, so we have been killing buffleheads. Nothing to be all that proud of, but when you can't find anything else to hunt you play the hand your dealt.

We have managed to kill a few redheads, blue bills (one greater) and ringers. It has been slow for the most part though.

Not much for me in GA other than a couple bw teal and ringnecks at the Altamaha opener. We did go up to Kansas for an early season trip and had a blast. This particular morning, 6 of us split up into 2 groups. My group shot mostly blue bills and redheads, but we did get a couple gadwalls and a pintail. The other group shot a few mallards, gadwall, wigeon, pintail, and some blue bills. We even scratched out a woodie up there!!! The dogs sure were proud with all of them piled together!!

Should have had more today than the gadwall but my gun slide into the water after i shot it and we had a flock of 10 come right into the decoys. When i pulled the trigger...nothing. I couldnt pump it or pull the trigger because it was full of ice. Im glad i bought a propane burner last night. Was able to get all the ice and water out but the birds wouldnt come in after that. Had another flock of 12 circle 3 times and on the 4th turn they were going to come in head on and someone skybusted them. I know they wanted to come into the decoys because they tried 3 times and were coming back. Most birds i have seen this year. Think they were ringnecks.

Camdencounty,
nice looking birds you have there, the dogs look awesome also. Where in ST Mary's do you live, I live there as well over in Shadowlawn but am currently stationed overseas with a return date of April. We'll have to hook up some time after I return.

Thanks guys.....I wish I could claim those labs, but they are my friends. They did a great job for us in those muddy flooded fields in Kansas!!

I live in SugarMill Plantation (Mill Creek) in St Marys....let me know when you get back in April....I need a turkey hunting partner!

pics from some north georgia duck hunting.....the one with the mallards was in tn........average is anywhere from one to six a hunt not enough to be picture worthymostly widgeon, gadwalls, and ringnecks but our best day we killed four teal three drakes and a pintail along with eight gadwalls, and a drake widgoen but our second best was 16 all gadwalls and ringnecks a ruddy three gadwalls escaped and not pictured though (no dog)....dakota decoys are the deal never have i seen ducks commit wings up feet out then when I started hunting over them this year..sorry the pics are small i donno how to fix that......
