Electric Calls and the law

Postby benjaminayoung » Sat Dec 08, 2012 1:48 am

It's 2:45am, I'm about to head head out to my spot and I had an interesting though;

While we all know using an electric call is illegal for duck hunting, how exactly is that applied. I ask, because I have an iPhone, and one of the ringtone settings is "Duck" (which sounds very similar to an actual mallard). I always carry my phone on me for emergency's and GPS, but now that I think about it, would the no electric calls law, be applied like the no lead shot law is (if you have it on you, you are in violation)?

I wouldn't think so as long as you are not trying to broadcast the sound to call a duck.

Wouldn't just having it fall under the "look of impropriety"? Like lead shot, if you even have it in your truck, you are guilty.

I probably shouldn't have, but I called the GA WRD (Thompsonville location). The no electronic calls law IS applied like the no lead shot law. So for us iPhone users, we cannot have our phones on us while we hunt (possibly in our vehicles too). Might want to check your type of phone and see.

Had a buddy turkey hunting and had a gobbler ring tone. Game warden checked him on the way out and his wife called while he was getting checked. Yea he got a ticket. :hammer: :fingerhead: :fingerpt:
