New to South Georgia

Postby bulldawgsierra » Fri Mar 21, 2014 4:47 pm

I know it's a while from next season but next week I'm making a move from north Florida to South Georgia. It's not a big move just 2 hours and I have a lifetime license in Florida so I will be traveling back to hunt there. Just curious how many are around the Valdosta area and wouldn't mind having someone new along next year.

Hunting in Valdosta sucks. I move to Valdosta in 2000 to go college and never left. Originally I lived around Lake Seminole. I drive to Florida to hunt instead of hunting local....not much more than over priced deer leases with wood ducks. I'm sure we hunt the same areas in Florida.

What brings you valdosta?

I don't think I'm gonna mis the buffies to much. Wasn't to sure if there would be a few ducks around that I don't see alot of.

I meant that as the deer hunting is great, everything else is not. More deer than you can shake a stick at here!

This year in my area I shot a few diff species...

Widgeon, mallard, black ducks, ring necks, woodies at will, geese ( a lot), 1 blue phase snow, hooded mergs, teal, redheads and saw some cans. Thats all I can remember right off.

That sounds like a pretty good year. There are a bunch of geese that I can see around here now. I wouldn't mind finding somewhere to kill them.
