Postby GeorgeW2004 » Mon Sep 20, 2004 12:53 pm

My name is Jordan. I'm 25 living in Athens. Looking for someone with experience to hunt with this year to help me with the "ropes". I have dove experience and am a pretty decent shot. Please help! :salude:

Nevermind. I see in the left hand column that you're in Valdosta. Ya'll usually go in a big group? Do ya'll use Dogs?

GeorgeW,
I hunt mostly on Seminole with bcat84 near Bainbridge. As he said you can come with us some this winter. I'm actually in Athens now too, attending UGA. I've heard of a few places around here to go, so when it gets a little cooler and I start looking about I can let you know.

Sounds good GADHNTR. There's a WMA somewhere close to Athens. Not sure exactly where though. I'll do some poking around.

Sounds good to me.
If you wanna contact me anytime you can email me at dww@uga.edu and maybe we can check that out sometime. I also like to dove hunt but don't have anywhere around here to do it...so if you're ever planning one and need an extra gun.... :salude:

Yeah man, anytime. The season's out for the time being but it comes back in in November I think. I usually go down to Motezuma.

I thought it came back in the first weekend in Oct? I could easily be mistaken though. How far is montezuma? Like I say though..if you ever need an extra man to cover a field I'm more than happy to split gas prices/driving with ya. I'm sure we'll get some sort or hunting in together sometime though, be it dove or duck.

GAD we're both right. Here's the schedule:

Sept.4-18
Oct.2-11
Nov. 25-Jan. 8

I researched Redlands (the WMA close to Athens) and waterfowl nor dove hunting is offered there.

Montezuma is about 3 hrs south from Athens.

you need to check agin the redlands is on lake oconee. and you can hunt doves if the season is open. the only thing you can't do is hunt furbear game with dogs during deer season. i have been hunting there for 18 years before it was a wma ( well part of it anyway )
