Just out of curiosity, why do labs sit like that? The "lazy" sit with one leg under them.

All things considered, this feels like a pretty good strap for two of us in these conditions. Had a couple in the boat also.

Waveslider,

What kind of boat setup do you run? You typically running on the main snake or smaller water?

We actually run a pretty big boat (18ft) but it's a bit custom so it really doesn't draw much water which is nice. So for that reason we can take it on just about any size water and can hunt the main snake, smaller water and open water like CJ or Magic Res or Owyhee Res. We take the neighborhood kids hunting a lot so it pays to have a nice stable big boat. Although we have a nice beavertail blind for it, we rarely if ever hunt out of it mostly because we don't have a dog and chasing cripples is a PITA. I am contemplating something smaller for even smaller water but we can just about put ours anywhere there is a boat ramp.

The spot today was a nice little local spot that I scouted out over the course of a few days/weeks and just picked the right wind to hit it. The birds are pretty spooky right now and it pays to strap on the binocs and spend some time looking. I don't think I will go back to it for while since they just have good memories right now.

The pattern is so totally backwards right now I don't really know what to make of it but I am sticking to the plan of scout, confirm and then hunt the birds where they want to be.

Thanks! I extended the frame on the back to hold a couple dozen decoys and front of the blind pivots down when it's time to shoot.

Back to back 2-man limits. Today was my buddy's 1st ever limit. While not perfect (Gads and teal) it was still a limit.

Nice work! Not sure what a perfect limit is but Gadwall and Teal is about close enough to it that I'm not about complain!

PICS FOR 2012/2013 SEASON

Postby Squishy » Mon Dec 10, 2012 5:52 pm

All drakes of 1 species is what we consider a perfect limit. Unless you shoot a special drake. Like a pintail, wood duck, wigeon...

This was the first goose hunt for my 7 year old son as well as my one year old pup. Its nice to live on a farm and hunt right out your back door step when you need a quick hunt and then hot chocolate by the fireplace. Moose did well on the retrieve once he figured out how to get a hold of it.
