duck hunting in the snow

Postby wmustered » Sat Nov 25, 2006 2:37 am

Hello every one, I have never hunted for ducks while it was snowing, do I have to do anything different, do I need to keep the snow off my decoys?

:welcome: to this board, wmustered!

I have always thought that it was generally a good idea to keep snow off the dekes. However, we have had fantastic duck shoots where it was snowing so hard you couldn't keep the stuff off of the blocks. And the geese that hang in the water in front of my house at times will let the snow build on their backs. So maybe it ian't such of a big deal.

First 2 man limit we've gotten!

To answer your question, we pretty much keep everything the same. I'm not sure if we've ever dusted the snow off before or not. If it's real bad I would.

if it is snowing it shouldn't take long to shoot a limit... mostly keep the ice of the ducks I dunk mine when it is snowing this will melt the snow when if hits the decoy... HH right I have seen bird with snow on there backs before...
