birds frozen by mistake

Postby hansonjb » Mon Dec 09, 2013 10:11 am

as you all know, it tends to be a bit cold out this time of year in idaho. i shot some birds the other day and now they're frozen rock solid in my truck, still whole (not gutted). its been extremely cold, so im sure the meat is fine. anyone else ever been through this before? how did you thaw them? did you breast or pluck? was it good? its been 2 nights now that theyve been frozen solid

I had the same thing happen to me when I was hunting northern california. I parked it in the garage and poured some water around them and they lifted off. They will be fine to eat.

I breasted out some frozen birds last night. I just let them partially thaw in the garage for a few hours and they were fine. You should be good to go.
