I think it is a great idea for everyone to share how they are doing during the season. Two more days and counting for central zone opener.

Well, i went out to our private pond this morning and had everything set up to perfection except one decoy i didnt like. I walked out in the water to move it and apparently there were already some geese on the pit which got up and flew away. Other than that, NOTHING!

This opening weekend at the cooling lakes was terrible. Only Three Geese and a Buffle head for us. Also most hunters were saying there are no ducks here.

well, i didnt end up with a goose egg today. At banner marsh i ended up shooting a nice mallard drake the floated right into the decoys. If we would have had some wind, we may have shot a couple more, but what are ya gunna do?

Killed 2 Geese and a hen shoveler this morning at Anderson Lake blind 10. There were quite a few small birds flying but nothing really wanted to work on the open water as windy as it was. Saw a few mallards but there will be a lot more to come hopefully!

not good

Postby takem558 » Mon Nov 07, 2005 3:07 pm

I hunt at a private club 19 miles north of east Peoria on the Ilinois river in flooded corn.all i can say is thank God for wood ducks.Mallard poulation way down from previous years.I'm thinking that the drought is to blame. We pump in water to flood the fields but had worst opening day in the 40 years I've been hunting there. We would be holding 5000 ducks over night there in past years.this year...maybe 200 at best.We need some weather bad to bring down some new ducks!

Well, i went bow hunting today and got shut down!!!!! O well, i went out to check on my goose blind, and walked up on three shovlers. Only killed one tho, i kicked them up and the two on the outsides went two different directions and the other one *the dead one** hovered over the water and didnt know what to do.....

we were out on the chain. it was really windy, but we still shot 2 ringnecks, 2 bluebills, and 2 mallards. Most of the birds would work and then when they would get close the wind would pick up and they would slide off.

Opening weekend at Litchfield lake we saw some ducks, but didn't even get to shoot. I hear this last weekend was killer though, something like 34 total. I forget exact numbers, but if I recall they killed canvasbacks, redheads, mallards, ringnecks, mallards, and some greenwings. I, of course, am down in Carbondale at school....

4 guns, 14 mallards, 3 bluebill,1 ring-neck, 3 shoves  , 1 gaddwasll, and 2 buffle heads. Lots of little ducks migrating. Very few mallards but the ones that were migrating were dumb and in big bunches
