I know you will need a foid card if you are in the field by yourself with a gun.

tealslayer all you have to have is a foid card and all your proper hunting licenses, habitat/waterfowl stamps to hunt alone. I'm only 17 and i hunt alone all the time and i have done so since i was about 13.

Actually i Believe you have to be 18 to hunt by yourself or without a parent or guardian over 21. But there is a certain age limit and 14 is under it.

I think the best place to ask would be a local warden. IF you get one that's helpful, they should be able to tell you the restrictions. If a local can't help you, get on IDNRs website and get some contact info for somebody in Springfield that maybe able to help you. Good luck.

As long as you have a foid card and your hunting license and stamps you are legal to hunt by yourself no matter what age it depends on your parents. I was told this by a head game warden.

thats what i thought too. i know if you are under sixteen you only need a hunting license with a habitat stamp if you are hunting with an adult that has all the required licenses and foid card, but i thought that as long as you have all the required permits and foid card you can hunt at whatever age.

That's not right you have to be 18 to own/possess a shotgun, therefore if you hunt alone you are illegal under 18. You have to be with an adult, that is over 21 with a FOID card and all the stamps. Trust me I sell guns There are age restrictions.

Again you do not have to be 18 to carry a firearm. There are no laws stating that u have to own the firearm that u are in possession of in the field i have hunted since i was 12 by myself and all i had to have was my foid card and all my proper licenses. I have been checked in the field deer hunting 3 times and all times i have been perfectly legal as long as i had my foid card and proper licenses. Age has no difference. It all depends on if your parents allow you to hunt at a young age and you have to go through a hunter safety course. So hunt on tealslayer and be legal man.

Alright i admit it i was wrong. My dad's a captain of the Mt.Vernon Police Dept. He said that as long as you have a foid card you can possess a weapon as long as it isn't illegally obtained no matter how old you are. he said he wasn't sure about the hunting part but as far as the possessing the weapon goes you're ok. Sorry for my ignorant response.
