The flood report on the Shawnee website shows most compartments are being flooded but it says fiscal year (FY 2012)? Not sure if thats the current map or next years plan. I went to SIU 2003-2007 and loved hunting there. Best hunts of my life have been there. Now I live in Wisconsin and go all the way down for a long weekend so its really a crapshoot....could be frozen and no ducks. I would like to ask anyone on here about the status (water levels or number of birds) but I know the usual answer! haha I guess I have to be the hated internet scouter with my situation.

the map u seen should be correct for this year. most compartments have water. there were ducks everywhere down there the first couple weeks of season but they moved on. i have not hunted there in a few weeks so i dont know if any birds are there now are not. i might try it this weekend.

Hunted OWB 1/6 and 1/7. Killed one wood duck at first light, had a group of 20 or so mallards work us for a bit but never committed. After that, nothing was seen again.

From what I heard there isn't much water. I heard the north side was dry. Opening morning lots of hunters and not many birds.

hunted northend of 14, didn't see many birds. Saw one or two small flocks of Mallards get shot into by the guys hunting the middle. Saw maybe a total of 30 mallards that worked decoys and 5 small flocks flying high and fast.

North Side has plenty of water. Opening morning was a slaughterfest. Limited out in the northern compoundments. Dont know if yall are trying to scare people from going but the bottoms are rolling.

I'll second that - opening morning was the best I've seen and the north side was plenty wet
