Pyramid yesterday morning (12-28-11)

Postby baseball_guy_99 » Thu Dec 29, 2011 3:21 pm

Me and a buddy met up at the draw yesterday morning to hunt pyramid. We were group 7 of about 22.

We had our minds set on what holes we would take...they got down to about the 13th number and we decided to high-tail it to a walk in spot.

We got set up about 15mins before shooting time...10 mins before shooting time we had a group of about 15 mallards circle a few times and land in the decoys. The dog got excited and decided he wanted to chase them (he got a stern talking to and the shock collar put on).

Right at shooting light we had a group of 2 circle and commit...we missed both of them (who knew you can miss such a big target at 10 yards 6 times)!!!

This was just a glimpse of the day we would have shooting!!

We then had a single come floating in...again we both missed.

After not seeing much for a little while we had a group of 4 come in. 2 hens and 2 green heads. We shot the 2 green heads but missed the hens.

Our last group of ducks that came in was a group of 3 green heads...of course we missed them!!!

Later in the morning, we had 2 groups of specks work but we could not get them to come close enough to shoot. (but even if they would have, we probably would have missed :lol3: :lol3: :lol3:

All in all it was a good day. We got to see a few birds and actually killed a few. We should have easily had our liimits on mallards.

Anyone been out to Pyramid lately? I'm wondering of the conditions and if the birds are moving in or not.
