Holy big goose lol and we didn't do well either lots of time there and we only had 6 ducks to show for it as well. It's going to be hard for me to go back this year unless I hear otherwise.

That time of the year again. Can anyone give me an update as to the water levels and birds in Banner Marsh?

Thanks! Bob G

Anyone been over to Banner this week? Curious if the water has come up any, or do I need to bring a couple of gallons with me to float the boat??

Went down there today. The water is low but I wouldn't worry about not being able to navigate to a blind. Some of the blinds that are in flooded food still don't have water pumped in yet. I didn't see any ducks or geese but I wasn't there long either.

Thanks for the reply. We've got the second day of the opener so I'm getting anxious. Hoping for more rain there and cold weather up north.

Good hunting! Bob

Hunted Banner both days of the youth hunt. Youth numbers and harvest numbers were very low... Water level is down 2-3' as most blinds are 5-10 yards from water. They started pumping water for blinds 15, 21 & 26 but my understanding is nothing got planted... Not all blinds are accessible by boat,ie the cut between blinds 3 & 4 might have 6" of water if your lucky... Will be there Sunday as a buddy has a permit. Here is to hoping these cooler temps push some birds down but not likely. Good luck to everyone and stay safe!!!

Thanks for the update. That's pretty discouraging , but expected. Did you guys kill anything?

I have a permit for Sunday too. Not sure if we will come down or hunt the Northern section.

Best of luck. Bob G

The youth I was with Saturday missed on a bunch of fly by's by teal and whiffed on a spoonbill at about 35yds. Sunday was the girls day and between the 3 of them they shot 2 ducks. Although not a lot of shooting it was still a good time and fun was had by all!

With the amount of birds we have I can't see it being worth the drive if you are coming from the northern zone...

Banner Marsh used to have a daily total hotline. They reported the daily kill of Banner and Rice lake. The last number I had was 309-647-9184 which now sounds like a typical answering machine. Does anyone have the correct hotline number for this season? Thanks.

As far as I know that is the right number. I'm guessing they just forgot to record it.

It seems that Banner is still getting a few ducks while Rice is now froze out. Are there any blinds that stay open on banner when the rest freeze out? I'm done with banner this year, but just curious. Feel free to send me an IM if you don't want to post openly.

Thx. Bob.

You can wade most of it but if would not advise it until you get to know the area and are familiar with each blind! Some blinds there are no issues and others one can go from 3' of water to deep water in a matter of one step! I prefer using my boat or the boat provided but I have waded most if it.....
