I was out there thanksgiving day and saw lots of ducks but unfortunatly I went bowhunting that morning instead of duck hunting.

Out this morning...saw some woodies (ignored me), saw some teal, should have shot the first 2 that came close, didn't, but got 1 later. Didn't see any mallards at all. Talked to a friend that hunted earlier, he saw some mallards on Saturday.

are the walk ins difficult to get to? I talked to the guy at the Region 3 office a couple years ago and he told me it wasnt worth it. Said you sink to your knees in the silt. Is that true? I would like to try it but not sure where anything is at. Also can you take a boat up that way and hunt out of a boat or is it walk in only up there? Any info would be great. Pm me if you would like to keep it private.

The walk ins are pretty simple to get to depending on where you park it can be a long walk. You can hunt the main park out of a boat w/ a blind, there are certain places on the lake that are closed to hunting. There is a map on the dnr website that shows where everything is.

There are places that are silted in, the northern part of North Fork Branch and the northeast part of Parnells, towards the wetlands. You do sink up above your knees in this area. It's gotten alot worse the past 5-6 years. Won't hunt those 2 locations any more. And there are no more "hunting stakes" for the walk-in/boat access sites.

I do alot of the time. Slow right now, didn't see any mallards the last time I went out. Did get some BWT though; the woodies didn't work on my spread. Can't go too far to the north due to the low water/silt.

Had a project down around Clinton yesterday. Had time so I thought I would drive around the lake and see what's going on. Got near the hot water discharge from the power plant and saw thousands and thousands of mallards. Unbelievable. Parnells and North Fork are locked up; Dewitt and parts of the main lake are open. I can honestly say that in the past 10+ yrs I've been hunting Clinton Lake, that I've never seen that many birds before. Food and open water.
