Anyone know how good the duck hunting is in the Shawnee? It looks good on maps and stuff, with rivers and a few swamps. is it worth the drive from Tennessee to hunt?

The Shawnee National Forest is a pretty general term. It stretches from one side of the state to the other and is a 100 miles deep. If you are interested in hunting Illinois go to the Illinois web site for DNR and search out the public waterfowl areas in Southern Illinois. The Shawnee itself has numerous sloughs and backwoods that can and do hold ducks. Go to the Ranger station in Vienna or Harrisburg and obtain Topographic maps, talk to rangers, and start walking.
