Could it be color mutation in the mallard? If it can for the goose, why not the mallard?

Im not saying it can't happen in mallards, obviously you see mutations with blonde mallards, however in that one, it is a young of the year bird, that is not in full plumage. You are correct that most of the time ducks by that time of year are fully plumed, however last year was a weird year, there was some very late hatches of birds, and that happens to be one. I can tell by not only the head, but the coloration of the rest of the body. If I could see the secondary feathers I would be able to prove it to you.
