Well , how goes it out there ? It's been quiet on here , no one posting its good or bad . I'll start : had a great opener , lots of birds around . Now , not so much . Warm front shut m down it seems .
Due to my job and family obligations, yesterday was my opener. 2 mallards, 1 woody, 1 gadwall. Can't complain. The only thing bad was my shooting.
Covered in birds saturday, killed 2 gadwall,a teal, 3 woodies and a hooded merganser. Lots of flight ducks, probably saw 4,000 flying high saturday over our farm pond. Sunday was slower only saw a few high fliers and managed to kill 3 spoonies. Don't know how this weekend will be...
thought i was the only one who shot hoodies, lol. Shot a "nice" hen the other day that i may put on the wall with my drake just to have the pair. what are they doin down here already anyways? They say they breed here but ive never seen it in my lifetime.

This is the second time I've ever seen a hoodie in my life. The two gadwall I shot were also the first gadwall I've ever seen firsthand too. Was a weird morning...
Yep . Xtremely slow on the local lake . Rained all morning , got soaking wet for nothing . Good luck if you go . Wednesday forecast is 100 percent chance of rain .
It's always best in the middle of a storm system...@
Drive around on cloudy windy rainy days a count birds in flight. Crows everything. You will notice more movement prior to and after a storm system.
Same at the grocery store...

Had out of town soccer tourney opening weekend, trip to Iowa for pheasant last weekend and still don't have the blind on the boat  hope to make it out by Thanksgiving at this point
We didn't go out either. Thinking I will regret it later. Seemed a heavy feed started early yesterday evening. Co-workers field was loaded with geese and Mallards before 2 yesterday and poured into it up until sunset.
Buddy called me from blind saying he was seeing high flocks heading south . He called again an hour later saying he was still seeing birds . He went to the blind around 7 30 after the rain that we were supposed to get most of the day quit . Of course I couldn't take it so I went at 11 30 . We saw flocks heading south consistently till around 2 , at least 12 bunches . Unfortunately , none of them would work so we put up a goose egg .
Unrelated I got a North zone report from this morning that Mallards were working fields heavy right after the rain finished. They group did pretty well. They left soaked, but happy.
