Dry Lake, Baldwin, IL

Postby JOESPUD27 » Tue Nov 12, 2013 6:06 pm

Hello, new to this forum.

Does anybody happen to have a good aerial map of the waterfowl hunting area at Dry Lake/doza creek waterfowl management area? They have a map on the DNR website, but I'm looking for a more condensed map, showing the blind/stake locations. Trying to figure out a possible walk in hunt.

Thanks in advance.

Thank you for the reply. Was hoping to find something online and try and hunt Sat morning. If my only option is to visit the lake office (near the boat ramp where they do the blind draw the first weekend?) then I'll miss Sat. Bummer.

Can't believe I'm saying this but have you looked at google maps? If your looking for access points it would be your best bet.

I tried Google Maps (which I usually have great success with) but the image they have is pre-flooded fields for hunting.

They only draw the first weekend other than that its a free for all lol and idk how good it is at the office. I used to work there the map was good but they always have somthing diffrent every year and this year they are 2 weeks behind on pumping it full of water due to a breach in the dam

We hunted there opening day last weekend. They don't seem to have much feed planted. I usually go with my father-in-law and his buddies, but they all have to work Sat and it looks like rain Sun. I don't have a boat yet, but still want to hunt. That's why I'm trying to find a walk-in that isn't Carlyle. I hope to get a map today if I can make it out before they close.

well i dont know if you know where becks landing is but

you know where baldwin lake entrance is you keep going straight past it and abt a mile and a half down that black top road right before the curve you go straight and there is river bottom there is a walking path to your right. also if i was you if you can go down there from 1 to 3 and you can walk that path and it will take you thru some good spots if they have them flooded. at least 3 pits and some other water holes

Thanks. I think Sat i will spend checking out the spots, rather than trying to find them in the dark and hunting.

I do not know where becks landing is. Is 1-3 the only time I can walk that path without disturbing other hunters?

Pits and water holes sounds great. Just looking to get a hunt in until the father-in-law is free with his boat

Well i believe you have to be off the water by three there done hunting at one. Becks like i said is straight past baldwin lake entrance just keep going down the road and there is a curve. Before the curve there is s rock road that goes down a hill take the rock road and look around a bit u may like it.

Thanks for the help. I am heading out this afternoon to look around and try and find a map. Wish me luck Sat morning. Would I find the map at the Lake ramp or the river ramp check station?

Didn't find any DNR people, so no map. I did manage to find 2 pits. I never tried to find becks landing. Maybe next time. I'm coming from the Belleville area.

Made it out today. Man, that was warm and windy. Quit just before some storms blew in. No birds in the bag.
