You can find the latest Illinois Duck survey for the Illinois and Mississippi rivers on the Frank C Bellrose waterfowl research center web site

Try going to this site http://home.grics.net/~forbes/ And on the left hand side of the page it will say duck aireal survey and click on that. Then scroll down and you will see a picture of the Illinois river and Mississippi river. Click on the one you are curious about. They will have the survey of the ducks at specific spots on the river and the total number along both rivers with the average numbers of ducks that should be here at this time. It is usually updated by thursday of every week and the surveys are flown every tuesday. See if this helps.

Went Saturday morning and group killed 5 woodies and 2 teal, did not see many mallards. Sunday Morning saw a lot of geese, mostly small hutchies and none of them came into range. It is still good to get out.

Went Saturday and Sunday. Hunted Grass Lake from blind 25 Sat and Blind 5 on Sunday.

Did not shoot at anything on Sat. Too far out of range and could not call them in. Did have one hen mallard drop into the decoy spread. I yealled at her and everything to get her off the water. I don't like shooting birds in the water nor do I like shooting hens. Other blinds near the marsh grass did a whole lot better.

Sunday got one Redhead Drake. Had some greenheads working but then the two other blinds in the area start calling like all hell. After circling twice they broke off and went to the other blind and got killed.
I really wanted to jump in the boat and ask the a-wipes in the other blind not to call off my birds if they are working. The three of them did it to the other two blinds in the area. I will admit I am not a good caller and lack confidence. So, when I actually got them to drop down and circle twice it was a confidence booster. The birds were in shooting range but wanted to see if I could get them to cup and land. But then they just kept calling and calling, next thing you know the birds broke off.
