Short notice

Postby IowaWaterfowler10 » Fri Oct 21, 2011 10:10 am

So i have one of the most common problems for waterfowlers on a budget. Lots of ducks in a field and no full bodys. I have GHG magnums and standard for my floaters. I do not have the money to go spend on full bodys so that is not ann option but maybe something that is closes like wind socks? I know that one of the shows I was watching used them I think it was an episode of Ducks Unlimited and they had a good hunt but I would like to get feed back from you guys. I also have plenty of water decoys if there is any homemade way to convert them (willing to do a little hands on). Any ideas?

Do you have goose decoys? A couple years back we added GHG mallard shells to our arsenal.. I can assure you we noticed no discernible difference in finishing birds between just running spinners and FB goose decoys vs FB Goose, Spinner and mallard shells

Measure the height of the water keel and build a "picture frame" out of treated wood in a square. When you screw it together, paint it the color that matches your hunting location, i.e green for winter wheat.

Pheastants that would be some hunt and i only have four goose decoys that are all semi resters except for one which is a sleeper but have plenty of floater mallard deeks i could fashion a shell decoy out of only problem is they would all be semi resting or active deeks and i have no idea how to make a stand for the deeks

Why not make your own sillohuettes out of card board? Its cheap and they work. Just get a few buddies and some beer and cut em out and paint em.

Use full body goose decoys or any goose decoys, a couple mojos and it doesn't matter. Also you can add sillosock mallards or silhouettes for a little bit cheaper then full bodies. Plus they save on room and weight.
Everything I say is so damn good you need to quote it for your signature.

Why do I shoot 3.5" for geese? Because they don't make a 4" yet!

not sure, but I'm sure you could build something to fit your decoys out of some plywood. They sell just the stakes without the keel slot also.
