Could you use floaters in a field?

I don't have any shells so I was wondering if you could use floaters and make a trench, and putt the keel down into the trench push the dirt over the keel and pack it down. I think it would work!

Plenty of good resources on here if you do a search on here for what you are looking for but here is a website you might like to take a look at.

http://www.dcvroutdoors.com/

You can get 12 of them from MPW for 35 bucks or you can make your own!

There are also these http://www.cabelas.com/duck-decoys-mall ... et-1.shtml

Just google it and you will probably find a cheaper price for them!

I use floaters in the field all the time and as long as you can't see the keel they don't hurt anything and work just as good as any shell decoys.

I had some old water keel decoys and i took a jig saw and cut out the water keel, by cutting out i mean cut into the decoy to make them a shell. Then I drilled out a hole in the top and use my goose stakes to hold them up. I drilled some holes for up right positions and some for feeding positions. Very cheap way to make field decoys......

I apologize to those I have yet to offend. Wait just a little longer and I will get around to you too!!
