For those who enjoy duck hunting in the fields, this is the place.
i was planning on buying a new goose spread this year but due to some circumstances i cant. but i do have enough money to buy some field duck decoys. so my question is if i were to put out some field duck decoys would the geese decoy with them or would they just go some other place?

with full body field duck decoys it will only get you a flyby shot you cant get them in close i hunted with some guys that were duck hunting and there were geese that would come to them but but not get low enough to shoot but with our goose decoys they would come in right on top of you
if they fly they die!!

I don't suspect you will have much luck decoying geese with duck decoys. If you are after geese...I would try to get some goose dekes. As mentioned...passing shots maybe.
Even if you are in a field where you scouted geese...I suspect they would come in and land away from your duck dekes.

Do they have to be brand new dekes you could get used ones for cheaper and if you have floaters you could put them out too. Just a thought.

I have found that geese will not "typically" land in a spread of full body duck dekes. Not to say it will not happen on occasion.
Check out the hot buy canada goose shells from ghg.
About $109 a dozen and they come with motion stakes.
Not bad at all.
Just an idea that should get you through the season.
