Water Pump

Postby birdwatcher » Wed Oct 22, 2008 9:19 pm

Not for sure where else to post this, but I am looking for a cheaper way to flood my field. I don't mind to buy a pump but this being the first year for this field I didn't really want to spend a lot of money. I thought that renting one would be the best bet but after checking the prices I quickly realized that if I kept it longer than the weekend prices start to jump quick.

I guess my question is, where can I buy a pump that won't break my wallet too bad, and what does everyone suggest to get?

We need approx. 1,200,000 gal. and we will be pumping from the river. The pump will have about 8-10 vertical feet of head and approx. 400 ft of horizontal dishcarge.

Thanks in advance.

We actually got really lucky today. I found out that through a friend that he is going to be able to rent us a 6" pump with a 4cylinder diesel motor that pumps 2,200 gal/min for 80 dollars a day. That would cover it however, we would still need to buy one in the near future, maybe even this year.

I need to know exactly what to get and where I can get it.

What does everyone else use?

This will work for maintenance work. But it would be very painful to pump 1.2mil gallons with this 2"

Now that 6" is gonna do you some real good.
