How we hunt the ducks in France !

Postby niko62 » Fri Mar 13, 2009 10:43 am

Hi Folks,

Let me introduce to you our hunting technique.

We hunt by night, we put a scope ( 7x50 - 8x56 or 7x63 ) on our shotgun, we put also some real ducks and geese, we don't use calls.
It's difficult to explain with words, please have look to this photos :

what he means is that some of those are live birds staked to the bottom im guessing. there not stuffers. some might be but they use live birds.
Why not shoot all 3 shots, they make more shells everyday.

We put decoys and real ducks, something like 600 floating decoys and 80 real ducks and geese. It take 3 or 4 hours.
Most of the decoys are filled by a product, then we can shoot them and they still floating.

All this little lake are hunted every night. So we have to put more decoys than our neighbor if we want to kill some ducks or geese !

Interesting, different places different rules.

If everyone else is night hunting why not hunt the fields during the day? Looks like plenty of feeding places around.

Yeah, we hunt from 12:00pm to 12:00pm so we hunt also the day. But we kill the ducks almost only by night.

Very cool, I love to see how other people get their fix. Do you raise your own birds? have you ever put out a spread of just live birds? bet it would be killer.

So if the shooting is done at night, are all birds taken on the water? have you ever killed one of your own live decoys instead of your target?

if you're shooting ducks in the dark how do you make sure not to shoot the live decoys you placed out. Actually how the heck do you see them at all. Do you just water swap everything, since you have a scope on?

Hello to all, I restart this post.
To answer your questions,
we raise our ducks and geese.
We attach by a leg with a ring at precise place.
They call all the night.

We use riffle scope with a U to shoot on the night.

So you let the live ducks call in the wild ducks then at night you go out with a spot light and shot them with a rifle??

Is this how everyone hunts ducks in France??
How do you tell the difference between your ducks and wild ducks??
What are your hunting seasons like? How long? (from like december to march) How many ducks can you kill?

We have lots of questions this is very different than how we do things over here..
