On July 2-6, the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives will be on recess. Many elected officials will be returning to their home states and districts to meet with their constituents and discuss current events and issues important to them.
This offers a wonderful opportunity to reach out to your members of Congress over the recess to tell them of your support for waterfowl and waterfowling, and ask them to lend support to conservation programs affecting waterfowl and wetlands. Most importantly, we need your help to explain to your members of Congress the importance of reauthorizing the North American Wetlands Conservation Act (NAWCA) and keeping the RESTORE Act and funding for the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) part of the transportation bill.
The NAWCA program must be reauthorized as soon as possible in order to ensure continued funding in the future. In the past, lawmakers from both parties have strongly supported reauthorization, recognizing the enormous importance of a program that leverages three non-federal dollars for every federal dollar spent.
The best way to ensure this program is reauthorized and properly funded in the future is to contact your representatives. Whether you attend a town hall meeting, request an office visit or make a phone call, DU encourages you to tell your congressional delegation you support conservation programs that protect waterfowl, and ask them to co-sponsor S. 2282 or H.R. 1960, the North American Wetlands Conservation Extension Act.
The transportation package currently being considered by Congress contains two critical pieces of legislation related to waterfowl and their habitats: the RESTORE Act and the reauthorization/funding of the Land and Water Conservation Fund. We need you to contact your members of Congress today to make sure they support these programs!

Please take advantage of this great opportunity to talk with your representative and senators about conservation programs that mean something to you as outdoorsmen and Iowa Waterfowlerr! Thank you for speaking out on behalf of waterfowl and wetlands across America.
This was a DU News brief that I changed just a little but none the less folks, it is the perfect time to let your congressmen know exactly how you feel about the federal Duck stamp issue, NAWCA and certainly the future of Iowa's PPJV Duck Production region.
The Ball is in your court folks and the issues if you will do rest in your hands!
