NRC meeting report from yesterday

Postby feathhd » Fri Aug 10, 2012 9:17 pm

Today's NRC meeting results:

Many showed up yesterday to show their Support to object to the NRC action ( June Vote )

1 NRC member proved yet again this month that she has Integrity and the aught most respect for all public duck hunters and those who participated in the process and discussion of a 3rd zone in Iowa. Janelle Retting stood her ground folks and requested that an emergency vote be taken to rescind the June vote / action that stomped public input, public participation into the mud. None of the other NRC members would second and thus the action to right a wrong slipped through the NRC commissions hands. Janelle commented about the possibility of being sued and yet none of the NRC members would second her motion.

I know the public waterfowler of Iowa should send Janelle Retting a big thank you for standing up and trying to right a wrong.

Director Gipp also needs to be commended here as well, he stood up and pointed out that the IDNR surveys and data that is obtained through them are valid and that they stand behind that data / information. That information was given to the NRC but the NRC went the other way with it.

After public opinion it was said one last time, a request for an emergency vote to change the June vote back to the org April NOIA by a public duck hunter and if No action was to happen that he will seek other action to address the problem.

Let it be said right here and right now, we will not tolerate what happened and how it happened and we will not stand by and watch public participation to such a level get stomped down into the mud hole by 5 private folks.

What was done and how it was done is wrong and WE will move to a higher level of action.

Information to that will be published about 2 to 3 weeks from now so you guys can follow the action and even support the case. Legal council has been sought / obtained. The days of getting our teeth kicked in and liking it are over. If it is wrong we will do what it takes to make it right and restore public trust, public participation and certainly the process to which is supposed to be working on behalf of the public waterfowlers.
