The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and Iowa Department of Natural Resources will host a public scoping meeting to gather input on the development of two proposed shallow water habitat projects. One project would be located at Wilson Island State Recreation Area, and the other would be located at DeSoto Bend National Wildlife Refuge. The portion of the project at DeSoto Bend is located across the river from the northern end of DeSoto Lake, on the south bank in Harrison County, IA. The portion of the project in Wilson Island follows the existing backwater along the eastern boundary of the rec. area property. The meeting will start with a brief presentation followed by an open house session where the project team will be available to answer questions and gather public input on the development of restoration plans for the two proposed project areas. The public is encouraged to attend at any time between 6:00 and 8:00PM.
