Call Your U.S. Senator Today Opposing Damaging Water Resources Bill
The United States Senate is rushing to vote this week on legislation concerning Army Corps of Engineers navigation and other projects. This bill undermines environmental laws, could expose taxpayers to greater costs, and fails to advance common sense policies to restore the Upper Mississippi River. A vote this week is premature.

Please call your U.S. Senators today and urge them to vote against the Water Resources Development Act of 2013. Contact information is available on the Izaak Walton League's Conservation Advocacy Web site http://www.congressweb.com/iwla/legislators . You can also call the U.S Capital switchboard at 202-224-3121 and ask to be connected to your Senators' offices.

Please feel free to use the following talking points when making your call:

I'm calling from Error on insert your city or town to urge Senator Error on insert last name to vote against S 601 the Water Resources Development Act of 2013.

As approved by committee, this legislation has serious flaws. It will short-circuit environmental review and could result in taxpayers having to support projects that don't make economic sense.

As a member of the Izaak Walton League of America, I am also concerned that the bill fails to include common sense provisions to restore habitat and support outdoor recreation along the Upper Mississippi River.

It is premature to vote on this legislation this week. I urge Senator Error on insert last name to oppose the bill and provide more time for thoughtful debate and careful analysis of the legislation.

Thank you.

Please take a few minutes to call your Senators today. Votes could be taken on this damaging legislation as early as the middle of this week. Your call will make a difference. Thank you.
