House Farm Bill Falls Far Short on Conservation (7/11/2013)
Statement of Bill Wenzel, Agriculture Program Director,
Izaak Walton League of America
On the Farm Bill Passed by the U.S. House of Representatives Today
“The priorities for the conservation community were largely ignored in the Farm Bill passed by the House today. It is imperative that a Conference Committee is convened immediately to reconcile the House and Senate bills. The only acceptable result will be a final Farm Bill that includes the Senate-passed national Sodsaver program and the provision to reconnect crop insurance premium subsidies with basic conservation practices.”
