Dear Mr. Smith
Last week the Flyway Councils developed their Early Seasons Regulations recommendations to the Service. The Mississippi Flyway Council will be requesting an experimental teal season starting this September. However, the Service Regulations Committee will not meet to consider Flyway Council recommendations until their decision-making meeting June 25-26.
Therefore, no decision will be made until then, and the Service will still have to publish a proposal on the tentative decision which will be open to public comment. A final decision will not be published until mid to late August.
They have offered IA, MN, WI, and MI the same September teal season
opportunities as the rest of the Flyway. Those states will be required to
evaluate the non-target harvest during an experimental phase if they choose to
avail themselves of that opportunity.
