Duck Mounts

Postby wildcard915 » Mon Oct 10, 2011 10:27 pm

I went out for west opener and got a pretty nice looking drake woody, i brought it home and put in the freezer and have been looking around for a place to get it mounted if its not too expensive, anyone know of any good places to get it done?

Nature's Art in Arma Ks, just north of Pittsburg does a good job. He did a pheasant for me and it was only $125 and he charged $175 for ducks but that was a couple years ago. He did a good job and very reasonably priced.

Don't know where you're located, but High Caliber Taxidermy in McPherson does a really good job. He's done a couple of my ducks, and now I won't use anyone else. Think he charges $225, any pose you want.

Campbells taxidermy out of salina is about one of the best around kansas. He is a multi time national champion taxidermist, with many other distinguishments to his credit. I would give him a shout. You will have to pay a little more I think he is around 350 now for duck mounts, but if theres one thing I have learned with taxidermists is that you get what you pay for. No matter who you go to make sure they are high caliber taxidermists that take pride in their work. Birds are tricky to mount, and really go to crap after a few years if the taxi didn't do it right. Good luck

Where are you located and how far are you willing to drive? The guy that has done taxidermy work for me in the past is on the Missouri side and is VERY reasonable as far as pricing goes. Fairly quick turn around too, I dropped two Mallard Drakes off to him the first week of December and had them both back by mid March. Shoot me a PM if you want his info.

Get ahold of takem7. He recently posted a picture of a pretty awesome looking teal he did. He's the kind of guy that would do good work for a fair price.
