Next Year's New Stuff?

Postby mudpack » Fri Feb 10, 2012 3:18 pm

Okay, the season is virtually over. What's the one thing you've determined that you absolutely MUST buy for the 2012-13 Waterfowl season?

I just got two cases of steel loads this week to replenish my depleted supply. AND...

As much as I hate to admit it, I'm thinking strongly about a spinning-wing decoy thingie......

How about you?

Nothing is set in stone yet, but I really want to find a good single reed. All I use now are doubles, and I want to figure the single out.

By the way welcome to the dark side. But remember, the spinner can hurt as much as it helps depending on the situation.

good question, i have 120 to spend at cabalas in gift cards and ive been thinking about this very question. I'm definitely going to reload on shells. But not sure what else im going to get. Maybe 6 high end decoys for the center of my spread. I'm pretty hard on my gear and I could really use a few better looking decoys. Maybe some high end under armor

I will be loading up on a few more dz of the Tanglefree fully flocked honkers, as well as getting a dz orso of the GHG ffd cacklers. Then I will begin to build my small snow goose spread looking at getting somewhere around 500ish deadly snows, probably buy them 3 dz at a time. Hope that everyone as a great last weekend, I need 6 more honks to hit my 100 bird mark on geese.

A layout boat for sure. I took some money out of the boat fund and went to the casino and tripled it. Only a little bit more and I can get a 4 Rivers boat. Gonna sell off some dekes and hit a bonus or two at work and I'm set. I can't wait its gonna be a long 8 months especially when its in the garage. I'll probably grass it and re grass it a dozen times before next season.

Hoping to get an ice eater this off season. Think I have my old man talked in to splitting the cost with me.

I'm gonna get a few new duck and goose calls. More diver decoys because I'm enjoying hunting them more. Probably another dozen Dakota mallard floaters. Lets see what they bring us this year for new stuff in the waterfowl word.

Trying to decide on a Maxus but my Gold works perfectly and I shoot pretty good with it.

I am going to add a couple doz. Sillosock Canada feeders to my full body decoy spread . Dispersed through out the set-up the slightest breeze makes the entire spread appear to come alive . It will definitely enhance your opportunities.
I had a chance to see this in action this season as we had invited a young hunter to come along, on a hunt with us. His decoy contribution to our set-up consisted of two doz. Sillosock Canada feeders. Man what a day we had. This old dog learned a new trick.

Like to get a new gun, a dozen or 2 more goose fb's and a small utility trailer. I'm also thinking of selling off some gear and making a switch to all Nat gear.

just bought a 3901 2 weeks ago and have been itching to shoot it, so probably a ton of shells for this summer and dove season tuneups. definitely getting a layout boat when i can make a decision and find a good deal on one.

I've added some more FastGrass (to put on my layout) to my list. Plus, if GHG comes out with the Pro-Grade Pintails, I'll be forced to add a dozen to my spread....which means another decoy bag, too!

Oh, I've already added the new Wingman call for next year.
