2012 Late Zone Roll Call

Postby quackattack1991 » Sat Oct 27, 2012 8:29 am

Who all made it out today? With the cool weather I'm sure a bunch of people were excited to give it a shot. I personally wasn't able to as I am on the way to OU vs Notre Dame. Good luck to everyone. Stay safe and good luck.

3 of us shot 16 opening morning. Would have had 3 limits, but my wife didnt shoot well. Fast action early with a good mix of birds-10 wigeon, 3 ringneck, 2 gadwall, 1 shoveler

Shot 3 times. Harvested 1 gwt. Still a beautiful day. The frost on the vegatation was spectacular. Managed to hunt a public spot very little pressure from other hunters. I'll take space and only 1 duck over crowded and a limit any time.

Had a great Saturday at Hillsdale lake. Ended up with 23, gadwalls and teal Sunday was slow. Birds left over night and headed south.

Sweet!

Thanks for the information. I'm bringing up my posse and we will be camping out at Hillsdale all next week. Care to let everyone know which area you were hunting? Maybe some GPS cooridinates? Hunting from boat or shoreline?

Out of two big boats. Launched at Hillsdale point. Sunday was slow and today saw lots of high flyers. Killed 2 teal and a ring neck. Good luck this season

Its alright, we all know that no one really want to hunt for gadwalls and teal in ks, that is the reason for the late se zone because we only care about shooting mallets.

Day late and a dollar short. Really he didn't give much up. There was a bunch there Saturday then the shooting started combined with a full moon and no food and they all bugged out. Watched it first hand saturday night, actually it was pretty cool to see thousands of ducks a mile high crossing the full moon. It would have made a great picture. All those ducks are well into Arkansas or Oklahoma by now.

I'm guessing he is on his way home to MN, so probably doesn't have a dog in the fight any more.

Hunted some big water today. Saw a decent amount of ducks flying, but they had obviously been shot at all weekend long. Nothing wanted to decoy or get close to where we were. Didn't help that we didn't have much cover either.
