How many shells do you guys carry on a duck hunt. My shell belt is 24 so that's what I carry.

How many ducks do you plan on shooting? Last time I checked the limit on ducks was 6. I am still on my first box of the yr and I have 16 ducks down. I usually take a box. I dont party hunt so there is no everyone shooting at one duck. Kill your 6 and be done.

 Look at Mr. I'm the best shot in the world! At this pace you may be 25/25 when it's all said and done. Who cares how many shells he takes. You can't shoot them if you don't have them. Never know what's gonna happen so you might as well be as prepared as possible.

I carry about 15, I figure having that in the back of my mind will help me make my shots count. And if I can't take my six with 15 shells then I guess the ducks won that day.

Yea because when you work birds at 5-10 yds it is so challenging to shoot. Only a skybuster would take 2 boxes just in case. I am not 25/25 but I am 12/15.

Your logic is horrible. Since you someone takes more then you take they are automatically a sky buster? I take two just cause I have them and they fit in my blind bag. Don't have to worry about reloading or filling up for a few hunts. But ya, I'm a sky buster!

I'm at 10/16 right now. But in my defense 2 or 3 of those birds required a warning shot to level the playing field.

12-15. If I can't get it done with that many, I have no business being out there.

My blind bag holds two boxes so that's what I carry. No sky busting either.

Sometime it depends on the day. One hunt this year we were pass shooting teal in 20 mph wind...I went 4/22. The next day we were shooting at decoying birds and I was 6/7.

I don't take any. I just sit in the back of my truck and think about it and they just start falling. Best thing for a gun shy dog!

Taking two boxes doesn't mean you're a skybuster ....using two boxes probably does.

I take 25, every time. That way I can count the shells I have left when I get home and know exactly how many shots I fired. Shots fired is one of the data points I keep in my records.

I can remember only one time that I shot all 25 shells....got my last (6th) bird on the last shell. My buddy (who is normally a very good shot) and I were hunting in about 35mph crosswinds in 2010. We couldn't hit squat. When we walked to the boat, we had two limits and zero shells left between us. We still talk about that day....

If I shot on the last trip, I add a handful each time I go out. I try to have around 15 shells in my bag. Shooting 10 times is a LOT for the way I hunt. I have run into a few indestructible cripples that ate through more than their share of shells though :D

I can think of one trip when I shot 21 times. That was 11 years ago, it was blowing like he** and snowing pretty hard AND it was one of the first times I hunted out of a layout boat, so I was sitting down. The ducks would appear at about 20 yards with no warning and as soon as I moved, they would turn with the wind and vanish. It was hilarious afterwards, and luckily there were no witnesses to that awesome shooting display :)
