i heard full choke is bad on the gun is this true

Depends on if your gun is rated for it. My beretta chokes are rated for steel. Also typically full chokes throw bad patterns due to the very tight constriction. Over decoys for ducks I shoot an IC choke although I would like to find a LM.

I shoot a patternmaster for geese. It throws super tight patterns with the loads I shoot. I have decapitated geese with it before.

steel is bad on most older barrels as they weren't made for it... as for new guns dosen't really hurt gun it just blows your pattern because it is to tight therefore one has no consistance in patterning a gun with a full choke

I was just looking at the Beretta manual for my Extrema 2 and it says you shouldn't shoot steel through the factory supplied Full or even IM.
