Sunrise/Sunset Tables

Postby cluckmeister » Sun Oct 13, 2013 11:29 am

After counting 8 different groups opening up this morning anywhere from 5 to 15 minuets before legal shooting time, Im beginning to wonder if people even bother to look at the sunrise / sunset tables anymore. If there would of been a GW there he could of wore out a Bic pin writing tickets. On second thought maybe all those guys just didn't give crap about the legal shooting time

Hutnut we were at McPherson, they need to put a stop to it. I can understand a couple of minuets early as any ones watch can be off a bit but 15 minuets is ridiculous

Yea that's way early. I heard that a couple guys got busted for shooting late out there. So hope they catch them. I'm going to take the boys out there this week after school and see if we can get a few birds.

I don't understand ever wanting to shoot before legal time. I don't even want to shoot at legal time. Shooting silhouettes is just not fun to me. I like to see their colors and the whites of their eyes. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with shooting at legal shooting time. Just more fun to me personally to shoot them when its a little bit lighter.

I bet a lot of guys out at the bottoms shot coots at or before shooting time. I know we drew down on a couple but didn't shoot not knowing what they were tell they landed. We found a couple that were tossed in the grass from someone the day before.

I agree with those who don't even want to shoot at legal time.
I've been out when you could pick out drakes from hens 15 minutes before shooting time (usually when snow is on the ground), and I've been out when you could barely tell the species 15 minutes AFTER shoot time. It all depends on weather conditions.
Most of the time though, 30 minutes before sunrise is still awfully dark to be shooting game.
Guys who shoot even 5 minutes before legal time chap my hide....and I hope law enforcement is able to educate them.

2 years ago there were guys shooting 30 minutes late one night. Their finally volley was 36 minutes after legal. Little did they know a game warden was hunting the same pool. He got pictures, license plates, etc. It was sweet justice.

I'm with whoever said they like shooting when they can see the colors. I usually hunt afternoons at our local wildlife area and will set an alarm for the posted lst. As soon as it goes off were done. Period
