I'm dehydrated

Postby EcatMagoo » Fri Jun 20, 2014 3:29 pm

You know that feeling deep in your body when you are dehydrated and your body is craving water? That's exactly how i'm starting to feel about the need to duck hunt. I'm going out tomorrow with my lay out boat and paddling around one of my ducks holes and do some early habitat scouting.

Ecat I hope El Nino puts enough water in that hole for you to paddle around in come September

85 days!

"KDWPT staff presented U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service frameworks and recommendations for the 2014 early teal season. Commissioners approved a 16-day season in the Low Plains Zone (east of Hwy 283), Sept. 13-28, 2014, and a 9-day season for the High Plains Zone (west of Hwy 283), Sept. 20-28, 2014."

I hear ya Ecat - seems like I've been thinking about the season more than usual this summer.
Good times ahead.

I just looked at the cool video for the third time and for the life of me cant figure out why those guys are hunting geese in a blinding snow storm. Ive never seen geese fly in that heavy of a snow storm, they sit hunkered down with the heads under their wings until the storms over

I hear ya'. But, we hunt when we can....weather be damned. If I only hunted when the conditions were just right, I'd be hunting <8 days a season instead of >50.

Some of the best duck hunts I've ever had were in heavy snow. Mallards flying along the river suddenly appearing over the dekes at 20 yards. Having to brush snow off the dekes every 15 minutes. Love it.

Ive done ok on both ducks and geese on days with light snow and not much wind, but 39 seconds into the film is a heavy snow I wouldn't waste my time on. Id wait until the next day and giver a go
