Busted some ducks

Postby JamieDuck1993 » Thu Nov 24, 2011 6:33 pm

When we got at our spot this morning there was already three jerks in it shinnig the light at us so we moved over a few hundred yards and set up a good looking realistic set of decoys. We only had 16 because we had to walk about a half mile from the truck and anyway our two mojos are what really did the trick plus the calling. Any right at daylight we had 25 or so fly right into the decoys and land. They was like 30 feet from us hen we opened up on them. When the steel is flyin and the ducks are dyin is what makes me love this so much. Hope ya'll had half as much fun as we did!1

Kinda what I was thinking supernova.....it must be the calling!
Jduck....I on the other hand didn't touch a call or have out a single mojo on opening morning and killed one shy of my limit

I think I have an idea of where you may have been hunting. Was the water level low and maybe one or two guys come down the lake float hunting?

If so, I've done that trek down to the water before carrying 100lbs of decoys, guns and gear.

By doing your thing do you mean shooting two ducks out of a flock of 30? I am no mathematician but I would say that two out of 30 is nothing to brag about. I see no point in putting up pictures of ducks that I have killed, not that there is anything wrong with anyone else doing it, but for gods sake if you are going to do some bragging please have something to brag about. Bragging about shooting 2 ducks out of this supposedly large flock of birds is like a kid bragging that he got a trophy for participating. Let's celebrate mediocracy! I believe at one point I said something about those who have to brag usually can't show results (or something somewhat like that, but then again I might have just thought it and never typed it..that happens) and I think this picture kinda proves my point.

Ya'll sure get tore up over somone else havin success. Them ain't just any duck. They are northern spoonbill shovelers and my cousin said the whole time he has been hunting that those was the first he has saw. I'm thinkin about mounting the green one. They really have some cool colors.

The ducks his partner may or may not have shot notwithstanding, 3 birds would be the max if only one flock came in. Unless you're floating a fourth. And as the song says, 2 out of 3 aint bad.

You don't need Calculus or Laplace transforms to figure that out.

I'm just not gonna rain on this guys parade.

Good job J Duck, if you are satisfied then that's all that matters. There's more to it than the numbers......(I have to keep telling myself that till the ducks get hungry and want corn). My joy comes from my kids enjoying the experience and today they had a ball! We only killed four but they got to ride the 4 wheeler and camo our Godforsaken "cabin blind". <---long story, needs some diesel and a match.

It's got nothing to do with raining on his parade, he brought it on himself a while ago. Keep your shells close at hand and its not beyond reason to shoot three times and throw a 4th and even 5th shell in the chamber on a flock of 30 birds. Have done it myself on more than one occasion. Besides if you were to read through past posts you would know jduck is a master caller and you would think after he dropped his 2 ducks he could have called them back in for another volley.
I will agree with ya on one thing jduck, drake shovelers are nice when in full plumage but they are certainly not rare. Many would pass on them too. I personally have no issue with shooting them and in fact shot one opening morning. Few years ago killed my limit....and every one of them were those rare "northern spoonbill shovelers".

jduck im not clowning you or jumpin your case but if you mount that bird the taxidermist will laugh at you. thats the most immature shovler you could have. and a shovler is a common bird around here we kill them every year many times during the year. and what kind of choke are you using to kill 2 out of 30 ducks haha. i could get a 1st grader to shoot at single shot 20 guage into a group that close and kill more than 2 and i bet you and your buddy dumped the gun on em.

and dont say nothing about me not postin no pictures from my 4 day success. killed 10 yest didnt get no pic aft i got home in the rain. these pics are from thursday and saturday. and j duck ill take a pic of my mounted shoveler at home and post it on here so you can see what a mature shovler should look like. But like I said im not jumpin ur case just giving a Lil advice if ur happy that's all that matters and at least ur out hunting and enjoying waterfowling. I would keep that shoveler in the freezer for a while and see if u can't kill one more mature. They arent uncommon around here.

For somebody that praises themselves for being a duck slayer, and a world class caller, your begging for someone to take you hunting because they killed some birds???????

This kid can't make up his or her mind. Wait a minute, I maybe on to something. JamieDuck is a girl!!!!!!!!!!!!! :hammer:
She is always wishie-washie, her mood swings, can never make up her mind what she is going to do, and a straight-up drama queen.

Yep, JamieDuck is a juvenile hen shoveler. Ugly wannabe mallard, with a big mouth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
