Out of State Hunting

Postby GreenHead5 » Fri Dec 16, 2011 2:47 am

I got a christmas present this year and it is a out of state duck hunt. :grooving: I get to choose when and where :grooving: ...this is where you come in. Where should I go??? :help: I have to stay in the Mississippi flyway so really i'm limited to Mississippi, Reelfoot, and Arkansas. Just wondering if any of you have went out of state and had a GREAT experince that you would like to share to get the research started.

Go to Arkansas. Reelfoot can be good but if you want to kill more ducks on Reelfoot than you would in Arkansas be prepared to hunt with the best guides because they are the only ones that consistently have 20 duck days. I would book it for next season in Arkansas, but thats just me.

I would stay as far away as possible from Hunters Paradise Lodge in Mississippi. Worst experience of my life and a complete waste of time and money.

for this season the good guides will be booked up. i would head up to wisconsin for a sea duck with ryan engel. or go to norther missouri around grand pass. I would book a hunt before our season came in next year so you can kill some birds before we do. or try and book a guided snow goose hunt for this season.

i wouldnt recommend bayou meto if you have never been to arkansas. Their will be hunters on every tree set up next to you. And guiding is not allowed on the bayou either. For the past three years I have went to arkansas and hunted with Marty Austin of Belle Gulley Duck Lodge. He has one of the best prices and will do everything possible to put you on some ducks. He will guide you in the am and when you are back at the lodge he is still out in the timber looking for another hot spot to put in. A huge word of advice for you....just becuase you go to arkansas does not mean you are going to kill limits of greenheads every time. It is just like here at home. It is the best place to hunt when the ducks are in, but like this year when i went the ducks hadnt go there yet. We still killed quite a few ducks though. If you go to Arkansas book it for jan so you wont beat the ducks there
