Kinda quiet???

Postby FOWLER2671 » Mon Nov 26, 2012 11:06 am

Who been wackin' and stackin' amungst you killers?

T-Day morning I waded into a spot which was thick with woodrows but the early shooters ran them off five minutes prior to LST. Killed a few teal and knocked down a woody. A slow start but the brace of teal sure taste good!

Hunted Sunday morning, pretty slow where I was. Heard some shooting and saw a few woodies.

I was out of town for the holiday & last friday so we didn't get out until the weekend. Hit a couple lakes and saw some birds, but never did get a shot off. Had some give us a look, but they never did commit. Must have seen something they didn't like, could have been me-

That was a good one. Remember the Wild Irish Rose story? That one was a classic.

No kidding. This time a week ago I was looking at the weather and thinking tomorrow looked like it could be a good day. Temps are WAY up since then so scrap that idea.

I sure am glad we found all dem ducks when the season was out cause they seem to be few and far between on Barkley. Drove around and the crappie fishermen are killin' em!!! Didnt' see much in the way of winged denizens of el Norte. No geese either. What was observed was mostly content to sit on the water.

Found out I have an aspiring coon doggie! Pulled up to look around and island and my young dog started sniffing around a deadfall. The rootwad had a birds nest in it and I thought he was smelling that untill I walked up and spotted a coon who promptly bailed out and headed for the buckbrush only to be rolled by my midget mutt. The fight was on and moved into the buckbrush as I was trying to use the shock collar but apparently the handhelds battery was down.

It ended after about five minutes when I assume the coon found a hole or something to hide in. Fortunatly Jack didnt' appear to have any bite marks on him.
