All your exclamation points (!!!) made me nervous lol
Me and a buddy both killed a crane a peice on a private slough off of the main lake. We decoyed them believe it or not

Thats cool. I can see how decoys would work good especially if they are migrating good that day. Cant wait to hunt them again next year.

Haha i bet they do. I know what a canadian sounds like and the sandhill are twice the size as most geese. The one i killed hit the shoreline of some public ground on barren river wma on the rocks so i didnt get to hear is SMACK the water lol.

I killed two in Hardin county. We hunted two days with 4 people each day and ended up with 6 birds. We tried decoying them the first year but had no luck this year we just setup in the fence row and nailed them as they flew over. Of course it's easier when there are a few thousand roosted about 100 yards on the other side of the fence.

Do you need a special permit to hunt them or is it covered in the waterfowl licenses?

By this he means in September, KDFWR has a quota hunt lottery. You must pay to play.

We killed 6 on two hunts last year. Got several more buddy's wanting me to take them this year. I got a private field that is just across the fence from a roost that routinely holds 5-10 thousand birds. Just shoot them crossing the fence. Only bad part is your only gonna get one chance at it in the morning.

Tried decoying them with layout blinds like geese but even though there were 800-1000 in the field the afternoon before a small group would circle then head to another field and almost all the others would follow.
