It amazes me that bird-watchers can still believe that regulated hunting can be detrimental to wildlife populations. Population models have proven that the sandhill crane population is healthy, growing, and can easily support regulated hunting. Seasons have been open across other parts of the US with no ill effect. Not to mention the added income from license sales, taxes on ammunition, sporting goods, it all trickles down. Oh, and those National Wildlife Refuges that these bird watchers love to visit so much, they wouldn't exist without license sales and donations from sportsmen.
