I spent a decade hunting that big water. Got tired of decoys washing away, stolen spreads, and the idiots.
Shoulda tried em that last swing...

Yea I pick my dekes up every day, not that anybody would wanna steal the cheapo junk that I'm using anyway. As far as the idiots there's not much you can do about that but I've found that after the first couple weeks the crowd thins out significantly. A lot of my hunting is done during the week and you would be suprised how many times I've never heard another shot or seen anyone at all on the water

I never put out more than 3 dozen decoys because I hated picking them up by myself.....add wind and its even worse. I have considered putting together a net rig this year but just haven't found the right net. This year I am going to try out a gang rig leading into the main group and see how that goes. I wish I had a place I could leave all my decoys out, but I just don't trust people.

If I'm chasin divers I might run 2 doz scaup with 6 or so buffies grouped off to one side but shooting mallards in the backs of the bays I rarely set over 6 or 8 decoys total. Very seldom have I ever seen more than that sittin around in one place so that's what I set.
