a good diver and old squaw weekend in sconsin'

Postby teamoutlaw » Tue Nov 19, 2013 1:33 pm

Went up to Two rivers, WI for an old squaw layout hunt and finally the waves and weather cooperated.

With strong winds from the south we hit Greenbay, WI and did some layout hunting for divers. Bluebill numbers were unbelievable, Goldeneyes stuck to deeper/rough water. Ended with 8 bluebill limits.

Very nice Long tails there. Its incredible how deep those things go. I cant remember what I heard but it was something that made your jaw drop, they find them in fishing nets all the time...anyways nice shooting!!

That type of layout hunting is on my bucket list. What an experience... I think we need to give a try on Barkley.

I can probably find a SEMO or ark pit. Possibly free of charge as long as leasee can hunt w/us.

Why not do a diver hunt on Barkley. I am sure there are a couple of spots that are close together. I used to host a hunt every year with a group off waterfowler.com back in the day and we hunted 2 groups of 4 on the lake.

I'm down with that too. I've got diver decoys and a boat. Just tell me what ramp to meet at.

You could post in any state forum and get a hunt together I'm sure.

I used to have 15 dozen divers and could run 2 spreads now I am down to 8-9 dozen. When I used to host hunts we all stayed at the the Days Inn at Kuttawa as you could at least get a drink with dinner at the Oasis and it was a less than 10 minute ride to the ramp. We also used to set up a cook stove and cook breakfast and grill small porkchops for lunch.

It was always a good time since all of just enjoyed the BS'ing and story telling. I don't think we ever killed more than 30 ducks a day.

well my original intention was to group hunt on snows in a field. and combine some decoys with some guys and hunt a huge decoy spread a couple days and meet some new fellas. I did it last year with some guys on huntingsnows.com last year from Iowa and it was a good time.

Sign me up... I'd make a trip west and have nothing better to do in March than help set up 50000 snow goose decoys.

10 4. I came on strong but tonight I realized I forgot to factor in mox jr. #2 coming along end of jan/beginning of feb. Don't know what I was thinkin... Guess I wasn't. I would say conservation season may be a game time decision for me.
