Opening day pics

Postby KyFowl20 » Wed Nov 27, 2013 11:16 pm

So I'm up and it's 12:13am, anxiously awaiting 7:03am. I should be in bed so I'm not a complete arse hole tomorrow during the festivities, but instead I figured I would post up a thread for opener pics. Good luck tomorrow to everyone, stay safe out there. Look forward to seeing lots of dead stuff tomorrow.

No pics to post. Left too early. Rest of the crew killed 2 limits this afternoon.
Hopefully the lake will be productive tomorrow.

Ice took us by suprise too. Had a small holr busted with a trolling motor running. Hole was just too small birds worked but didn't like the small hole. We killed a single mallard. Had a singe woody commit we missed. Later on 3 more mallards but horrible, embarrassing shooting led to them escaping as well. The bad shooting aggervated me more than the ice. Good numbers of birds around, gonna hunt that same pond again Sunday. Hitting a river tom as most ponds are still locked up. Didnt get to hunt today. Figures we've had more birds on our ponds than ever in last 6 seasons and we get iced. Had a buddy put fullbodies on ice and his group shot 17. That's the only group I know of with much luck. We've talked about buying an ice eater, if seasons stays like this especially.

What county you in? You should show the CO your spoils. They always like to know when people shoot semi rare birds like black ducks. Although rare is dependent on county in KY.

I hope you get a sweet ticket for that 2nd "coot" you got there Jake… Guess Duck Dynasty didn't teach you how to properly identify what's legal and not legal to shoot… Nice work

Well thanks for the kind wishes.
Is that smallest bird not a juvenile coot? If not, could you tell me what it is? Ain't my bird anyway.
And yeah, guess I should pay closer attention to duck dynasty

Its a Grebe.. illegal to shoot.

you should really know what you're shooting before shoot.... good way to get a ticket, if you dont know.

Thanks. I gotta take some blame on it. Told my buddy he could shoot it if he wanted to, thinking it was a young coot. Lesson learned
